Personality:
As a pup, AJ was secretly a very devious, greedy little boy, always poking his nose in where it didn't belong and getting into all sorts of mischief. The little brat usually got away with it, too; being his Aunt Margret's "golden boy" had its advantages, and A.J. was able to simply throw his sisters under the bus whenever push came to shove. As a result, AJ grew up being perceived as a complete sweet-heart, but his sisters knew better.
As a teen, AJ lost some of his frostiness towards girls, where as a pup he would give them the cold shoulder if they tried talking to him. Teen AJ, instead, acknowledged any particularly beautiful dame(at least until he got what he wanted from them), yet maintained his insufferably chauvinistic and arrogant attitude towards them. However, he would make exceptions of course for his best friend, Connie, although he'd never liked to acknowledge his partiality for her.
History:
As stated above, A.J. grew up as "teacher's pet" to his Aunt Margret, who taught him and his siblings the ins and outs of proper etiquette, just as she had done for AJ's three older half-siblings. Although AJ was unquestionably complaisant towards the old female, it never bothered him that he betrayed the loyalty of his favorite older sister Crysa by doing so, as in fact he probably caused more irritation for his aunt than she or even Crysa would ever find out. He constantly tattled on his siblings, sure, but usually only so they could take the blame for a naughty (usually destructive) thing he himself had done.
A typical boy, AJ loathed girls during his youth, and held the generic thought of the time (probably one he learned from Ol' Margaret) that girls should be "put in their place" and tucked away from the world inside their houses. However he soon meets his match in Connie, a snarky, smart-ass pup who is just as stand-offish towards him as he is to her. More than any other female he'd ever met, she irked AJ to a degree which made him entirely uncomfortable and unsure of himself. Being around her was difficult, but to let her walk away thinking she had won an argument, thinking she had made him look like a fool, was impossible.
The pair was proud and anti-social, and despite their mutual dislike, became steadfast companions in their shared wariness of others. As teens, however, their relationship slowly climbed to a different level; after a particularly passionate disagreement one night, things got a little heated. The result, much to AJ's alarm and Connie's apathy, was a teen pregnancy. To the surprise of both dogs, neither of their families, or even any dogs around town, were surprised; to them, it was only a matter of time before the pair wised up and made their relationship more than a childish rivalry.
Indeed, having kids forced the two to grow up very quickly. It worked out though; the immature element in their relationship was replaced with an unspoken acknowledgement of their mutually strong feelings for each other. They ended up being very good (but young) parents for their pups.
