Raul
(Fostering for Iditarod)
Name: Raul
Age: 1st/2nd gen
Gender: male
Breed: Mexican Wolf/ Greenland Dog
Parents:Raul's mother was a wolf; his father a Greenland dog.
Siblings: N/A
Mate: Lyra
Personality:
Raul is hardy and confidant, possessing a magnetic personality and natural charisma that draws others to him. He is charming and thoughtful, not necessarily a good disciplinary, but not gullible or foolish either; in fact, Raul is very clever indeed, savvy when in sticky situations and ever street-wise. It is his combined intelligence and ability to motivate others which has allowed him to become the highly respected leader he has made himself to be, fighting his way to the top of the dog heap(so to speak)while his driven conviction and natural aptitude for leadership earning him more friends than foes along the way.
History:
As a young pup, Raul's mother raised him in the heat of the southern Texas wilderness. Though Raul picked up on survival skills with great finesse, the stifling heat took a heavy toll on his ability to keep up with his better-suited wolf mother, and eventually it caused him to be snatched (saved, rather) from life in the wild.
The banditos saw him from far off; a curious puff-ball wolf pup, slower and stockier than his mother and unable to flee quickly enough when he got caught in the men's storage of food. For a few months Raul lived with the humans, along the way learning of the joys of gang camaraderie and picking up a few tricks of the bandit trade along the way.
Still, Raul eventually realized he would never be perfectly suited for the dry deserts of the Southern U.S., and when he was a year old he made up his mind to travel to a colder climate, meaning he would travel in one direction--North--until he reached this promised land of his imagination.
It took Raul a year of train-hopping, police-dodging, and wilderness-trekking, but eventually he made it as far north as he could go: Alaska. The small town he arrived in was overrun with dogs, but to Raul's confusion most of the strays were loners, with the result being chaos and much unnecessary death from fights and starvation.
Long story short, in order to offer a refuge for struggling strays Raul started his own gang, based off his old bandito pod, which attracted many strays passing through. Some, even, made up their minds to remain permanent members of the gang, and soon enough Raul's band of dogs became a widely-known family-like pack.
Raul met Lyra shortly before the conception of his gang; she was demure and secretive, unforgiving and in-compassionate, and neither sociable nor particularly friendly--Raul's total opposite. However, Raul recognized something about her, a foreignness he had scarcely seen in any other dog yet--she definitely had the Wild within her. Indeed, it turned out that, like Raul, Lyra was not only part wild dog, but that she was a definite non-native. She had come from Australia, and the relics of dingo blood burned noticeably within her.
It didn't take long for the pair to become inseparable, becoming mates and ruling the gang together.
Over time, Raul would find himself noticing and picking out other strays which exuded that same "wildness" and "foreignness" about them; Shila(maned wolf mix), Goga, Ronum, and Thatcher(all part gray wolf), to name a few. The entire gang grew in size and strength to become one of the main forces in their territory. Raul, with his natural gift for diplomacy, managed to keep his group out of as many scraps and fights with other gangs as possible. Generally he became well-liked and greatly-respected by most dogs in town.
Other:
> Has a very smooth, accented Mexican voice, reminiscent of (hate to use this cliche example) Antonio Banderas. xD It's much less pronounced though, and Raul generally refrains from using Hispanic slang or colloquialisms.
> Sports a few healed scars from his time in the wild.
> His preference for diplomatic and friendly relations has led to his distaste for dictating over his gang--that job has fallen mostly to Lyra, who keeps everyone in line. Raul instead works as the glue keeping the group together and out of conflict with other gangs.
Voice: Gael Garcia Bernal
