Crush: Jay doesn't realize it yet, but he is starting to fall for his best friend.
History:
Blue Jay's litter would be the last--and the smallest--for their parents, but by now Kangee and Colette knew how to get around their owners and care for their children by themselves. Thus Jay and his siblings were born on the border between their parent's two farms, safely hidden in a well-concealed den near a fence post. It was not Colette's wish that her last children should grow up forced to work--she'd rather they choose for themselves as they get older.
So Jay grew up without a care in the world, free of obligations and rules. When he became a year old, however, Colette and Kangee could no longer hide their children the easily. While her eldest sons went on a hunting trip, Colette asked her eldest daughter, Whip, to take her little brothers and sisters into town to find a safe place for them. Lovebird, who idolized Whip, decided to stay on the farm and work like her sister did. Kite and Kestral decided to stay in town as strays. Blue Jay was very excited about his own new life, as he, too, made up his mind to stay as a stray.
The town was all new to him, and while at first he was captivated, Jay later found himself slightly overwhelmed at all the activity during his first two nights; after all, he had been used to the quiet, peaceful country. He was maybe not such a natural street-dog, but that all changed after he met a fellow stray, Billie. She had the whole system figured out, and the two became very close friends and companions. Jay found he could treat Billie like any other guy and she would still take it "like a man", yet at the same time he held some appreciation for the girl, as she taught him how to survive on the streets of town.
