Lyra
Name: Lyra. Will allow others to call her by her gang-name "Sug'"[as in Sugar], but only when she's not in a bad mood.
Breed: Dingo/ White German Shepherd (and a little bit of husky)
Age: 2nd Gen.
Gender: female
Mate: Raul
Crush: Raul, but she has a wandering eye...
Personality:
Lyra is suspicious, secretive, steely and self-reliant. Her moral compass doesn't exactly point due-North, and as a rule she'd throw someone under an avalanche and not bat an eye if it was in her best interest an will hold a grudge to her grave. On the other hand, Lyra is very loyal to those she cares for and would do unthinkable things for their safety, but usually she doesn't do so because there are very few who have been able to get close to her at all. Generally, Lyra is closed in, keeping to herself and seldom talking more then necessary, preferring to be coy with strangers, if not downright hostile. She does have a dominant streak and will get bossy and violent if she is crossed.
History:
Lyra's owner was a zealous zoologist and wildlife enthusiast. While living briefly in Australia to catalog local wildlife, his beloved companion, a white German Shepherd mix, apparently had a little tryst with a member of the local fauna. A few months later, her litter was born with the familiar rusty colors known well by the locals--the pups were clearly Dingo-hybrids.
Unfortunately, Lyra's mother did not survive long after the birth, dying of infections. Her master was heartbroken, but found solace in one of the puppies, whom he kept and named Lyra. Th two adored each other.
Later on, he traveled to Alaska, bent on studying the native canine species: Gray Wolves. When studying in the field, Lyra was his constant companion. While she loved her master and the safety of his home, something about the wilderness called to her. While out exploring one day, she got separated from her owner and never found him again. It turned out that he had left for Australia that day, and the plane couldn't wait for Lyra to re-appear; her master, heart-broken, figured she had been killed in the wild.
Lyra was devastated, yet she was a survivor; allowing her natural instincts of self-preservation to take over, she became inclosed and stoney, relying only on herself and becoming quick to resort to feral violence. She went into town and lived on the streets, never yielding to the forests again after what it had cost her.
Eventually she began to notice and a young rogue male prowling around town. She was wary of him and kept her distance; she didn't trust the way he confidently approached other strays and walked away unscathed. It wasn't long until she noticed him staking her out as well, but she managed to elude him until one day she confronted him with a threat for him to stay away. He wasn't intimidated though. He wouldn't be.
Lyra soon found out his name--Raul--and his intentions: to form a dog gang. She snorted at his idea; what dog would be foolish enough to throw in his lot with a complete stranger? Still, he extended his offer to her, which she refused, but he actually interested her and she ended up traveling with him to keep herself entertained. Once Raul's idea actually started to work, Lyra had to eat her own words, but Raul didn't hold any hard feelings; he would forgive her on the condition that Lyra would become his mate. Even if her initial reaction was to refuse him, Lyra found she actually trusted this dog and even felt something more...
So she accepted. And they became the leaders of the new gang.
Lyra--later on taking the sometime nick-name "Sug'"-- seemed to be a natural leader, though Raul had the final say on most things. This changed after the group got larger and Raul focused on more political areas. Lyra then became the unyielding, fear-inspiring tyrant of the pack, in complete opposition to Raul's more benevolent style of leading.
