Personality:
Sweet, energetic, more like a lab then a pit bull, loves kids but hates babies, not aware of his own size, clumsy.
Sparks is indeed a happy-go-lucky dog. He rarely holds grudges and has an all-around good nature. He is inceasanty curious by nature, and won't stop util he figures something out. If he likes you, you're stuck with him: his sense of loyalty is boundless. While he is kind, he isn't always a thinker. He tends to be brash and bold, and when he does on the off-chance listen to you, he may be insulted easily.
Background:
Sparks was born into a comfortable family. His mother was a kind yellow lab and his father was a rescued pit bll. Unfortunatly, his parents' owners had no need for extra pups around, so they sold Sparks to a seemingly benign man who turned out to work for an illegal experimentation lab. Fortunately for Sparks, his stay there was short lived. A group of dogs, namely Ridge, Trigg, Galileo, and Pilot(c)lunawings, helped him and some other pups who had been obtained through questionable means to escape the lab.
History:
After Sparks escaped, he ended up in the town of Nome. A sociable pup, Sparks clung to the first face he saw: a scared red she-dog. She found his company to be annoying, and Sparks soon learned that she wasn't the most tolerant of all dogs, but he stuck with her anyways until she decided to head back to her home. Being a curious pup, Sparks was eubilant to find that she lived on the streets: no rules, all fun! Shila, the red dog, was warry of his company though. She didn't want a homeless pup wandering around, but she was also unsure of his chances with her out in the streets(she certainly seemed to want to be rid of him). Luckily, her gang of friends found it funny that Sparks clung to Shila so, they
teased her a lot of course(a dog named Machette was the worst): Shila was absolutally not the pup, or even the friend, type. To her dismay the pup stayed. At least, he was allowed to stay, and he certainly wouldn't leave.
They gave him a nickname, as it is custom in their gang, of Lil' Slugger or "Slug", an affectionate name the gang bestowed upon him.
Sparky became friends with several dogs his age, including Owen, Owen's 'cousin' Renegade, and Bamboo. He loved his friends, even if they could be rude sometimes. Gade tried to join his street gang one time, but it turned out that Machette was related to him, a second cousin or uncle-like figure, and he told him to go back home. Everything was fine for a while until Sparks started to notice a certain chocolate brown girl around town. He became infatuated and started to ignore his friends and other dogs who liked him as more than friends(Gade(c)Rush and Heaven(c)Kolton) for some girl he didn't even know. It took a while for him to muster up the courage to speak to her, and when he finally did it was puppy love. Well, it was for him anyways. Sadly, after talking for a bit he noticed that the girl,Evalina, was always distracted when a placid grey dog named Fletcher walked by.
Sparks was devestated. Utterly. He wasn't one for revenge, but he did confront Fletcher one day. They decided to duke it out in a gentelmen-like manner to win Evalina's heart. Sparks figures that with the help of his friends and is gang, he could surely woo Evalina into affection.
Things weren't going so well for Sparky. Eve figured out what Sparky and Fletch were up to and avoided them entirely. Fletcher apologized first, and eventually Eve forgave him and confessed her love to him. They went out for a while, however, for some reason unknown to Sparky, the two broke up...or at least, Fletcher broke up with Eve(Sparky would soon find out that he actually left Eve for his own friend, Bamboo). Unlike her usual self, Eva became very despondant and delecate. She wouldn't talk to anyone, and actually walked off whenever Spark came up to her. Soon enough though, he noticed Eve in her usual perky mood again, and he thought he'd try to get her attention this time.
Unfortunatly, Eve flat-out rejected him, though kindly. She was already mates with another male by then. Broken-hearted a second time, Sparks took comfort in his friends and his gang. Things were pretty gloomy for him for about a year after that, and it didn't help when he meet Eve's puppies.
However, Sparky would soon find out that he was looking for love in the wrong places. He met a scruffy pit-bull mix, Penelope. She was about his age, raised by a foster mother with a few other street puppies and scarred by the streets and by the past, just like Sparky was. Eventually they warmed up to each other and became incredibly close, soon mates.
Sadly, before they could really start anything, Sparky was killed, a victim in a plot set up by Heaven, a vengeful female who once loved Sparky. Shila and the rest of the gang were the first at the bloody scene, and they took Spark's body and set it to rest in a frozen lake. Gade and Penelope found out later; Gade had been gone from town for a few years and had recently come back to town with several pups in tow. Penelope had heard about the accident, but when she got to the site, it had already been cleaned up. Gade and Penelope found comfort in each other, though the bitterness of the circumstances hung in the air all too heavily.

"The changing of time doesn't change you. You change yourself along the way."
Other: He doesn't have any accesories, but as a puppy he receives a nasty scar on his neck from Buck, a ship-yard guard dog. Sparks had been chased into the yard by a rival gang, which then fled when they realized where'd they'd ended up. Unfortunately for Sparky, he didn't quite realize the danger until Buck had already spotted him...Raul's gang holds a lot of animosity towards Buck as a result of the attack.
It's an interesting stroke of irony that true identity of Sparky's murderer is actually Buck's own son.
